Why does the mapping application not display in my browser?
These mapping applications are optimized for more recent versions of Internet Explorer (version 6.0 and newer), Firefox (version 1.0 and newer), a 56K internet connection (or faster) and a screen resolution of 1024 x 768. The application has not been tested with other browsers such as Opera or Safari.
All I see is a "Retrieving Map" message, but no map displays. Why?
A number of possibilities exist:
How can I get the best printed maps?
In the Maps/Reports menu, choose Create a Printable Map. The most useful option is the bottom one, Create a PDF Map. You can then choose portrait or landscape layout, specify a scale, and print to letter or tabloid size paper. The top option, Create a Map, simply generates a low resolution image format.
Why are my mailing labels printing out of alignment?
When the application generates PDF labels, they are automatically formatted to fit Avery 5160 label sheets. However, in Acrobat or Acrobat Reader, you must ensure that Page Scaling or Zoom to Fit Print Area feature is turned OFF. When you hit the Print button, if the Zoom factor is anything other than 100%, your labels will print incorrectly, getting more out of alignment as they go down the page.
How do I get back to where I can check the boxes to turn layers on and off?
Whenever a selection is made, or the Information tool is used to query for the attributes of features in a layer, the results appear in the left-hand pane. Click the X in the top right corner of the left-hand pane to close the dialog box or click Map Layers return to the Layer selection.
